5 Easy Steps to Staying Healthy
1. Connect With Others - Join a club,
such as a book club, hiking club, etc. Research suggests that people who feel connected are happier and healthier, and may even live longer.
2. Stay Positive - Keep a compliment/achievements journal, write down any compliments you get and all the things you accomplished that day, review them that night, or the next day. People who focus on the positives in their life are less upset by the negatives.
3. Get Physically Active - Schedule physical activies like you would any other important appointment, put it in your calender. Work out with a friend, sometimes it's harder to break a commitment to someone else than to ourselves. Exercise can help prevent heart disease, relieve insomnia, and reduce stress and anxiety.
4. Have Fun - Positive emotions can boost your ability to bounce back from stress. Identify the high points of your day, take note of what makes you happy, and do those activities more. Feeling good is good for you!
5. Get Enough Rest - People who don't get enough sleep face numerous possible risks, such as, weight gain,decreased memory, and heart problems. Some ways to get a good nights rest are to de-caffeinate and de-stress yourself. Caffeine lasts a long time, so try to avoid it 6-8 hours before going to bed. Avoid any daytime worries by taking care of any next-day preparations about an hour before bed.
