Refurb's Road Raves
Joe and I went to the Pittsburgh area last week. The reason for our trip was the INPEX Invention Show where we saw inventors presenting their ideas to the world. To learn more about it go to www.inpex.com.
Some of the things we saw were:
- A new way to measure and cut angles, a tape measure with a swivel end that attaches to your board, with pre-marked angle measurements...just swivel the tape to match up to the angle you want to cut and make your mark...
- Ladder Spurs, attachments for you ladder so it will grip to any wooden structure...no more worries about you ladder shifting and you falling! www.granddesigns.vpweb.com
- Tripod Ladder System, adjustable legs for uneven surfaces and broader leg span fro more stability than a regular step ladder. www.faxko.com
- Adjustable Tie Down Clamps for pick up trucks, move them where you need them to secure and transport materials. See them work at www.YOUTUBE.com/DAVIDYMIGUI1.
These are some of the other places we went and things we saw. Maybe they will inspire you to take a trip to Pittsburgh too!
- Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens....Worth a whole day...bring a picnic for the park. www.phipps.conservatory.org
- Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Water...This home, designed and built over a waterfall is a beautiful example of Wright's work to incorporate nature into design. www.fallingwater.org
- Duquesne Incline...A century old cable car connecting river level streets to hill top streets. There is an observation deck below the floor to see the mechanics of the cable system. www.incline.cc
-Frick Art & Historical Center...A beautiful home (mansion!) and garden from the early 1900's with a carriage house full of turn-of-the-century (1800-1900) carriages and motor cars. Enjoy lunch at the café. www.thefrickpittsburgh.org
- Primanti Brother's Restaurant...A Pittsburgh tradition since 1933... meat, cheese, tomato, coleslaw and fries...between two slices of thick bread! You have to try it to believe it!
To sum it all up, Pittsburgh is so full of art, culture, entertainment, sports and history that we just scratched the surface in the 5 days we were there! For more information about things to do and see, go to www.visitpittsburgh.com.
Best Wishes,
Lisa Elichaa
